Hello there! I'm Holly Wells.
I teach writing and do research.
You can find out all about my professional life on the pages of this website. On this page, though, I thought I'd toss in a little bit about who I am outside my academic persona.

I'm a cyclist.
My passion for bicycling began when I was a kid (there's a great photo of me at about age 3 or 4 on a bike; it's on my blog somewhere), took a hiatus after I had my first kid, and was rekindled for good in 2020 as the pandemic weight gain woke me as if from a dream.

I mainly road bike. My Trek Domane SL5 is named Dakari. Why Dakari? Well, my favorite cycling instructor on Apple Fitness+ is Bakari, but all my bikes have names beginning with D.

This year, I added a new steed to the fleet: Her name is Dusty, and she is a Trek Checkpoint ALR 5. We've been having a lot of fun on the trails this year (when it's not too hot to go outdoors!).

My first "real" bike was a Giant Allegre bought for me by my first husband, in 1992. His name is Danny, and he's still around, too, although the tech is so outdated that I rarely ride with him anymore, sadly.

The bike that got me back out there is a Trek Verve 3 Disc, and her name is Dela, after the Delaware River (where I live).

I also run about 3x per week, and I am starting to hate it slightly less than I used to. I mainly run indoors on a treadmill, but I've been known to run outdoors on occasion.

I love the outdoors.
I hate bugs, though. But yeah, I'm an outdoorsy type; I love hiking, kayaking, walking my dog along the river, even camping (when it doesn't involve grumpy teenagers).

Love my pets.
Two cats: Socks (age about 16) and Henry (age...who knows). One dog: Sophie (age 3). Some fish.
